How to Shortlist the MBA programe & In which business School

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have more 13 years of experience with 4years in managerial role working for international companies in the field of marketing automation, CRM, data analytics and digital marketing previously working for companies like Accenture, RELX group etc. I have core technical knowledge on the above stated topics. Now my goal now is move next level to be precise more in management role in organizations like Microsoft, Oracle, Huawei, Lexis Nexis within UAE.

I'm doing a lot of research to understand below points:
1. Which MBA specializing holds good for me Marketing or Business Analytics?
2. Finding a business school in UAE which has strong employer network & career support in UAE only (as I'm not planning to move to UK or other European countries)
3. Cost is also a big factor, Is it worth to spent on LBS & CASS Business & Manchester ? (As i have already done a few of executive programs by Harvard Business School.)
4. Can we go for an medium scale university for MBA then top up with executive programs from Wharwick or Harvard or Imperial? Can this route also big good option?

3 Main Goals: (apart from programs as most of the triple accredited schools are giving similar course)
- Impact on Career
- Target the companies listed above or any other medium scale companies holding good position.
- Built a strong network.

Finally what is the your opinion on Manchester Metropolion University?

1. Specializations don't matter as much as the school. No serious MBA recruiter cares much about whether or not you have a specialization in a particular field.
2. Use LinkedIn to compare the number of MBA alumni from those schools in the UAE. That is an excellent proxy for brand equity and network power.
3. Top schools have better value for money than average schools because the outcomes are much better. You perhaps took HBS Online courses rather than alumni-status courses at HBS. HBS will not consider students of HBS Online to be alumni, and the experience and value are not similar.
4. For that reason you can't 'top up' an average MBA with a online course that doesn't make you an alumnus or graduate.

Focus on the best schools for your goals. MMU is academically solid as an accredited MBA, but it will not have the brand equity or alumni network. Harvard is not triple crown, but an alumni status course at HBS or HES it would be a better choice for many students than the MMU MBA.

Career support differs between schools. If you look at the FT rankings, you can see the schools there with the best careers support, because that's a big driver of success in the rankings. I don't think you can expect too much from MMU in the UAE. Id would focus on the schools that are active in the UEA: LBS, Cass, Strathclyde, Bradford etc.

However, one thing you can do to sort of narrow down your options is to survey LinkedIn for professionals who work in the area, in the kinds of organizations and / or roles that you would be interested in working in, and see where they studied. This approach will give you a general idea of the networks each school has in the area.
