I think the average GMAT at some of the better schools in Canada like McGill tend to be in the 660-680 range.

However, you seem to be aware that for someone with your background, your score may be a bit low, owing to others with similar profiles who tend to score higher on the GMAT.

How balanced is your school in terms of the breakdown between verbal and quant? A well balanced score might go farther compared to others with similar profiles who may score higher on the quant and lower on the verbal.

The next tier down from the FT-ranked schools, so to speak, would be schools like Alberta, Ryerson, Concordia, maybe Calgary. Look into those and see if they line up with your goals.

A main issue is that there are a lot of applicants from India who are also IT professionals and who are targeting schools in Canada. The GMAT is a key indicator, and, as Laurie mentioned, you'll be compared against others who might have higher GMAT scores. It might be worth it to re-take your GMAT, or, in any case, point to any factors in your essays that would set you apart from the pack.

My score breakdown was 44Q / 37V. Is it worth to re take with these scores?

If you think you can get your verbal score up, closer to the level of your quant score, I would say retake it.

A comparable verbal performance would get your overall score up to 700+ which looks a lot better and would make you more competitive at better schools.

The difference between the quant and verbal scores isn't *that* big. However, you'll probably see larger returns focusing on the verbal at this point.

In general I would rate Ryerson above Concordia for most students, given its status in the Businessweek ranking and decent (relatively speaking) placements / salary stats.

Concordia might be more appropriate if you're looking to work in Montreal instead of Toronto, and for some specific career goals.

Ryerson's location is awesome. Bang in the middle of Downtown. (well not bang in the middle) but 3 stops from Union station. Even York/Schulich feels out of the city (Schulich is at Keele & Steel which is just on the outskirt of city on line 1.) Do Concordia if you want to get into Quebec firms - Bombardier, Cogeco and the likes. Do Ryerson for Toronto/GTA based firms.

Location isn't everything though - Queen's places well into GTA firms and it's in Kingston!
