MBA in Hong Kong?

Hey, I've been on track to do an MBA from next fall and I mainly had my heart set on going to Hong Kong (either HKUST or CUHK) with the idea of staying there are working in FS.

However with all the instability we're seeing right now, how good of an idea is this? Is anybody else considering going in any case, or are others put off? I'm supportive of the protesters but I don't know enough about the situation to say whether or not the financial sector will be affected or if so how much.

Would love some advice for people who are there or have knowledge of the situation.

I think the UAE shows that the finance sector doesn't care about democracy if talent is there.

Haha true finance sector doesn't care.
But your quality of life is most definitely affected.

As far as I know, china has a whole army outside hong kong waiting...
I would wait 1 semester to see how the current situation will end. Hopefully it is a short term unrest

At the very least I would read more information about the situation and I would even contact the universities or locals/alumni (even better) to learn their opinion and advice.

I don't think it will ever get to the point where the finance firms are not willing to recruit talent.

I am holding an offer for HKUST but I am having second thoughts and a lot of doubts about attending, with the political unrest and the virus.

Anybody else? Am I too concerned?

I think you have been too concerned. UST is an excellent school, but still, you can share your concern with the recruiting team or talk to someone who is 19 intake. UST＞HKU＞CUHK

Yes, you are probably right. On second thought I do not think I will pass up this opportunity. I have been looking forward to doing an MBA for a long time!
