Hi Hotshott,
Empty vessels make hollow sounds. Don't mislead readers into considering PSB academy as some kind of great university providing quality MBA programs. I don't come to this site very often hence the delay in replying to your crap! (sorry, adopting your kind of language to answer your questions...)
PSB academy is one of the many so-called 'private' universities in Singapore which are currently under government scanner to evaluate the kind of MBA programmes they offer (Straits Times, Oct 21). Every good college will give you an MBA degree of their own but if you visit their site, they have following MBA degrees to award -
? California State University, Long Beach
? Loughborough University
? The University of Newcastle, Australia
? The University of Nottingham
? The University of Western Australia
? University of London
? The University of Wollongong, Australia
Yes, you can choose anyone of these as per your liking :-)
Most of the students joining such courses are the ones coming from neighboring South-East Asian countries where education oportunities are next to nil. Other group is the Mainland Chinese who register in such colleges to get the visa to stay in Singapore. And then there are Singaporeans joining these programmes who were never good enough to get in their own local university and want a degree to show on their resume. They eventually end up doing sales/marketing jobs for local companies for $2K or less (or in that order). Bright Singaporeans prefer to do their MBAs from USA or UK and if that's not possible, then from local universities like NUS, NTU and SMU (besides INSEAD).Some leftovers also look towards Australia, and then crap of the lot, to show off a degree on their resume, turn to such schools. That's hard and cold fact and it's time to swallow it, Hotshott.
Also, there is no need to do NS to know how's the education scene in Singapore. Going by your analogy, one can only know well about the quality of USA or UK schools if one is born there....right? Six years time is more than enough to know a place with size 25km * 20km, with only 3 universities of its own. You don't have to be a mathematician to know that 2*2 is 4, got it? As a senior position holder in a technology MNC, we don't even look at resumes with qualifications from such universities, forget about finance or consulting companies.....
To conclude my point, it may be wiser for people like you (locals) to join such institutes to upgrade their skills but asking someone from other countries just to come here to join such schools will be a waste of their time and money. And that's why I suggested Anil (who seems to be an Indian) and Jocelyn to look for better schools like INSEAD/NUS/NTU/SMU if they want to do their MBA from SIngapore.
That is correct, I was taking issue with Ramdi, who claimed that being in Singapore for 6 years he therefore knows whatever there is to know about the education system here in Singapore. Are you his side-kick?
I, therefore, asked him if he has done national service here in Singapore, simple as that, which I have not seen him answering. To me, you'll only know what's there in the Singapore education system if you have actually studied in Singapore and having Singaporeans as your classmates. Otherwise, like i said don't try assume expertise in the educational institutes here and burst Anil's and Jocelyn's enthusiasm on the MBA course in PSB Academy. What about you, did you study in RJC? Nothing to do with Xenophobia my friend. Where are you from, India?
Does working in Infineon Technologies and having lived in Singapore for the past 6 years give Ramdi the right to say blatantly that the MBA course at PSB academy has ZERO value? I'm taking issue with that too. Like i said, every MBA course has its strengths and its weakness.
