Top Business Schools in Asia

Great forum!

What would you guys say are top business schools in Asia? Based on reputation (in Asia), job opportunities, and programs offered (MBA/Masters in Management, etc.) I think most of them are in China and Hong Kong? This is what I think (not in ranked order)

HKUST: of course it has strong MBA. But it also has Kellogg EMBA and NYU Stern master of science

SKK in Korea: only MBA and EMBA but great place to do MBA due to good economy

CEIBS: MBA is good and offers finance MBA which is good if want a good job in the China financial sector. EMBA too.

Cuhk: good Financial Times Global MBA rank. Good career prospects. And offers good MSCs - finance, information tech, and accounting.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University: Antai - strong master in management program. Good connections in China.

Nanyang: probably the best business school in Singapore if you do not count the INSEAD

IIM-A: good MBA. But also good master in management, with good career prospects

Feel free to add some more!

I think this depends a lot on language and career goals; there are some excellent schools in Japan and Taiwan, for example. As the rule of thumb, the FT rankings are very good for MBA programmes, and the Eduniversal five palm ranking is useful for comparing the schools generally (http://www.eduniversal-ranking.com/business-school-university-ranking-5palms.html ).

I think you have to put Fudan and Tsinghua above Antai. NUS is the better business school in Singapore for most candidates.

What about Peking - Guanghau? Ranked in the FT - and for such a China-focused program, it usually draws a surprisingly international cohort.

And I forgot to add the University of Hong Kong as well. And KUBS is another good one, in Korea.

What about some of the schools in south-east Asia:

NIDA - Thailand
Asian Institute of Management - Philippines
Universiti Putra Malaysia - Malaysia

They may not be ranked in the common rankings, but they're quite reputable in the region.

One can not underestimate the Asian B-Schools like S P Jain and ISB, these two are also ranked well worldwide along with IIM-A.

OPM is an executive MBA without the degree. In Asia, that would be called an EMBA.

What would you be looking for in a program? If you want a full executive MBA experience, something like the HKUST-Kellogg EMBA might be worth considering - even though it's not specifically aimed at owners/mangers, it's a quite rigorous program that looks at the fundamentals of business.

Otherwise, there are a number of shorter executive education programs, offered by schools like CEIBS, Insead, SMU, etc. I'm sure you could find something there.
