The top ones are ranked - fairly, in my opinion - in the FT Global ranking:

MGSM #56
AGSM #66
Melbourne Business School #87

MBS grads have stronger salary growth, but far less salary overall. This is probably because that school recruits a younger cohort than MGSM or AGSM.

The other schools in Australia- Monash, Queensland, UTS, UWA, etc. - are in a different league.

Thank you. When you say that the other schools are in a different league, what does that mean? I was thinking of doing the MBA at Monash.

They are not as good as the top 3 (MBS, agsm and mgsm). The difference in quality is quite big.

that is not the only indicator. Even top programs like Harvard and Insead are not triple accredited

MGSM vs. Melbourne... I'm having a hard time deciding. Any advice?

Would you need a post-MBA work visa? If so I think MGSM would be the best option - I believe that if you did the one-year MBA at Melbourne, you wouldn't be eligible to get a post-MBA work visa, since you need to study something like 20 months in the country to receive it. Check this with the school, though.

Plus, MGSM has a better position in the FT rankings...

Sounds good. I have PR in Australia so the work visa is not an issue.

I have heard good things about MGSM and Melbourne and I am planning on applying to both of them. Does anybody know about the visa situation in Australia? I have read some things but I am a bit confused if I can get PR after an MBA.

As I mentioned above, I believe you need to have studied for at least 20 months in the country before being eligible to get a work permit. So one-year MBAs would not be acceptable, unless you have studied in the country previously.

In order to get PR, I believe you would need to have an employer sponsor you after the initial work permit.

Not as good as the ranked schools discussed above (MGSM, AGSM, Melbourne, etc.) It's now AACSB-accredited (recently), so it will provide a verifiable, solid education, but beyond that won't have the same global reputation as the ranked schools.

Thanks - I saw the accreditation info so I was wondering about the quality.

If you're concerned about quality try to focus on the schools that are ranked. They would be worth the additional investment for most applicants.

I have done a bit of research and I think this is fair from an international perspective. However, from a domestic perspective I think the strength of the schools depend on what part of the country you're in and the top schools aren't limited to just those 3.
