Australian MBA - MGSM vs UQ vs Curtin

Hi
I am from Australia and am planning to do 1 year MBA program. I have got offers from Macquarie Graduate School of Management - MGSM (Sydney), University of Queensland Business School (Brisbane) and Curtin Graduate School of Business (Perth) for MBA program which are all highly ranked in the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) rankings for 2012.
I don't plan to apply to AGSM or MBS as I would not be taking the Gmat. So besides these two which would be my best bet amongst the above? UQ currently ranks 27th in the world and Curtin 46th. But though MGSM ranks 61st I have heard more of its reputation. Also it has managed to find rankings in FT rankings in 2010. I am more in a dilemma between MGSM and UQ. But I have heard that UQ has been running an outstanding program as well in the recent years. Also within Australian AFR ranking UQ is ranked no 2. Mainly I give a lot of importance to the networking opportunities besides the academic standing and the reputation/rankings. Also good career services are of particular interest to me.
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

I think it would depend on your career goals. Curtin has excellent placements in Australia's energy industry, and even has some specialized curriculum and faculty research in this area.

At MGSM, you see a lot of grads end up in tech and bio/pharma firms. And for UQ, the focus is more in management consulting.

These may be a function of geography - but nonetheless each school will have some industry-specific networks. If anything, you can connect with each school to find out which career services department would best line up with what you are looking for.

At MGSM, you see a lot of grads end up in tech and bio/pharma firms. And for UQ, the focus is more in management consulting.

You mentioned that UQ is more suitable for consulting, but would I need prior experience for that? I was also initially considering Curtin for the high pay in the mining industry but I was not sure about the overall recognition/quality of the program globally as well as whether without mining experience I would be able to get into the mining industry post MBA? And in the case that post MBA i decide to stick to marketing, then out of UQ and MGSM which do you recommend?

No, you wouldn't need previous experience to go into management consulting. Although an internship would help - I know MGSM offers an internship component but I don't think that UQ does. Although UQ does have a global project component that it offers in partnership with Wharton, which would be beneficial in terms of a career in management consulting.

I would think that you could, but check with the school and ask about this. A full-time MBA is typically really good for people who want to shift industries or functional roles, so I don't think it would be a problem.
