the question was, is la tatrobe accredited, not if it is a real school.....
being a university doesn't really rid it of having to be accredited - in a way, it only makes it more suspicious when it is not!
i would still suggest calling or mailing them for the information - calling may be a better way, as it is easier to notice if they are trying to hide something.
I beg to differ. Calling ? who would you reach ? Can you trust a person over the phone ? Will you trust someone over the phone ?
A mail is definitely better.
Latrobe is a chartered unviersity funded by Australia Government. Does it need any more accreditation or certification by 3rd party. may be you have not been exposed to this university. but I have been there many times.
I rest my argument, case in point, that I would never trust schools like Chifley Business Schools (which offers MBA) but certainly not a real university. I wouldn't call it a diploma mill, but a very fine line in between, may give some people the same perception. Latrobe is a real university.
Disclaimer: I graduated from Deakin University (on campus) in Geelong. I recently completed my M.InfoTech from Charles Sturt University (Wagga Wagga).
I have been admitted to a MBA program jointly run by Deakin Uni/APESMA (now Chifley) in 1995-6 because of its affiliation to my old university. I regretted it until this day... because Chifley Business School has the weakest "accreditation" per se. They call themselves B-School - go figure.
I have recently paid for my tuition fees to University of Sunderland (Newcastle, UK) for finishing my MBA - which is what it is worth. a real university MBA that requires me to complete the rest of the research modules and a dissertation. Something I am more interested in then other MBAs which is more coursework/exams.
Mailing and made inquiries is acceptable
Phoning in makes no sense
Accreditation by 3rd Party is debatable
The important thing is that it is a chartered university.
