GLOBAL MBA MANCHESTER VS EXECUTIVE MASTER IN FINANCE SDA BOCCONI

Hi,
I am a Italian who is working in multinational company in Italy in the Oil&gas industry as a Investment Analyst and Network Development. My aim is to add a booster on my CV and change industry in Italy o Europe ( consulting or hitech firms) or advance my career in my current company.

I am thinking about a GLOBAL MBA(part time) at Manchester Business School or a Executive Master in Finance in SDA BOCCONI. I'v just got the admission for both programs ( the tution fee are 30k€ for Bocconi and 28 GBP for Manchester

Background:
34 years old;
Bachelor Degree in Computer Engineering
Master in General Management at Bologna Business School

I have 7 years of work experience in Sales and Business development department in the fashion/automotive and energy industry including last 4 years as a Retail Zone Manager.

Which Business Schools among the two have better reputation in Europe and will allow me to have the better visibility among recruiter or head hunter?

Wow. It really makes Manchester look under-priced. A friend of mine did the Global MBA at Alliance MBS. It's an excellent programme and very similar to their full time MBA. The MiF will include fewer courses, and will tend to limit you more to functional finance roles. Your broader background has more synnergy with the MBA.

That said, these are both great schools.

PS Manchester benefits from a more pan-European alumni base and, of course, a massive parent university in the top 50 worldwide.

Bocconi seems to be the higher ranked as European Business School...

Yes, if you had the choice between a MiF at either school then Bocconi would be my recommendation. But the choice is between a whole MBA and an executive MiF.

Yes. I think you see that from the most important full time MBA ranking, from the Financial Times. And the fact that the Kelley school has a joint MBA with it is also a testament to its quality.

But the most different factor here is really between a MBA and an executive MIF, rather than between the schools.

Think of it this way:

If you do the Bocconi MiF, you're limiting yourself to working in finance roles, for the most part, especially in the years following graduation. Some people, if they're interested in finance roles, are ok with that.

The Manchester Global MBA would, practically speaking, give you a broader range of options in terms of industry, sector, etc.
