Tell your story if anyone of you were able successfully to integrate into the job market (where degree is somewhat necessary) without finishing university. What steps have you taken?
Well, long story short - I didn't finish my bachelor's degree in history. I was working as a local guide in my city Athens and playing poker online, it was an overwhelming life I left behind. Then I decided that food on the table must come from another direction. One day, accidentally, programming involved me. The integration into labor market was necessary. Thus I decided to try-out all available free learning tools in the vastness of the Internet. For sure I'm thankful for google peanuts and youtube, you can't imagine how much cool free stuff you can find when you force yourself to. MOCCs was also an option to get few certificates. Having good free info always helped to improve faster in my life. Hence, the journey took 5 years and now I'm successfully working as a senior PHP developer and I sure I'm a perfect fit for the job market, where a degree is necessary for my position. Well, I hope I am.
