Job market in Spain

Hi there,

I am applying to IESE MBA program for admission in the fall.
I would like to get some insights on how the job market and overall employment situation is right now for MBA grads. I have read a lot about the Eurozone financial crisis and how this issue is threatening to bring Spain down to its knees. The change in political situation created more uncertainty, with massive unrest in major cities of Spain. Despite what I am reading about the situation in Spain, an executive from IESE school told me that the job situation for MBA grads is improving ! He added that as the program is international, the grads have no problems getting a job at all ! How true is this?

In addition, will it be difficult to get an internship, which is part of the 21-month program?

AFAIK, the unemployed are mainly construction-workers or youngsters with no experience and such. (I live in Spain). And you can probably apply for jobs all over the world anyway with that MBA.

It helps a lot to know that the situation isnt as dire as it was projected in the press. I am looking forward to the result of my application! I certainly hope to be able to get in.

Yes, IESE is a very good b-school with an international brand. I just wanna be sure that the school and the job market in general are not affected much by the ongoing financial crisis.

Can anyone give me any inputs for EAE BUSINESS SCHOOL in Spain?

In Barceona it is just behind EADA which has sometimes been ranked in the FT global top 100. I know somebody who got in Deloitte after graduating from EAE with an MBA.

As a local institution it is ok, not a sham operation. I have been there once, it is not very big, but adequate facilities for a local business school. It seemed the students were a bit younger than average. In Spain the degree would be definitely recognized, but it is not in the same tier as e.g. IESE of course.

I just know one person who attended that school and she got a job at Deloitte as a consultant. Sorry to not being able to help you more profoundly ;-)
