a career change to trading after MBA

5 yrs experience in Marketing Comms in energy industry
Masters Degree in Comms from Ivy School
(good GPA)
Bachelors Degree (low GPA - did it over 7yrs ago)
Age: 32 yrs currently
GMAT: 650

Looking for 1 yr program to potentially make a career change to Trading. Can I make a shift at the age of 33 yrs to trading?

Sure, you can change careers, people do it all the time. I think a common perspective on this is that to get into trading you don't necessarily have to have a specialized MBA, a good general one would be sufficient. Aim high, emphasize your solid gmat score, your work experience and maturity. Are you looking for US programs? Europe? The usual suspects for one year programs:

US:
Kellogg
Cornell
Florida/Warrington (good safety school.)

Europe:
INSEAD
IE

Just to answer your question Ralph, I am in the UK and am aiming for a european MBA program, which are normally 1 yr programs.

My concern was my age as most MBA employers (from what I have heard) prefer the below 30 age group. But I have seen traders in their 40s even so this gives me hope.

i'm a telecom engineer working with supply chain management.

I'm also planing to do the same: take an MBA with Ie and then go for the CFA. I think that in my situation the MBA can teach me the basics before going to the big leagues
