Hello everyone,
After careful consideration I have decided to choose an Executive MBA. I was born in France and I am 33y/o. I have an Engineering degree of a French hight school and a Swedish university (ERASMUS). I worked 5 years worldwide/offshore as a team leader (but not only) building a subsidiary in an Oil&Gas company. I have been living in South-Korea for 2 years now and need new and more complex challenges.
Based on advice from training specialists of business schools and due to a short but dense curriculum an EMBA will suit me more than a MBA with less experienced students.
Based on my research the 18 months long EMBA "Itinerant" from ESCP Europe is the best option (2019):
- can be self-financed (less than 91 000$US and quite short)
- well positioned in the 2018 FT ranking (11th)
- most of the students are coming from abroad (72% international)
- corporate social responsibility is part of the training (reason why I didn't choose the EMBA from HEC)
- the training has a high-quality content.
I also like the option to travel through Europe (Paris, Berlin, London, Turin, Beirut, Brussels and Madrid) but not only (Shanghai, Singapore, Austin...) :)
Before going through the admission process I am looking here for some advise coming from your personal experience.
In one hand, the EMBA from ESCP seems to be European focused (name "ESCP Europe" and partner universities spread among Europe). But on the other hand, seminars take place in Asia and America.
* What is the value of such seminar in the whole 18 months training ?
* Is the EMBA from ESCP worth his 2018 FT ranking as the 3rd most International EMBA ?
* Is the EMBA from ESCP is an option to consider for working in Singapore or Australia (with a skilled VISA) ?
I have read here and there that the ESCP was looking for students with at least a business academical curriculum.
* Do I need to consider an initial business training ?
As you can read in the first lines, I worked past 9 years in the Oil&Gas industry. I made the choice to NOT focus on Energy concentration (like HEC major) because I am already in the field for long. I also consider an EMBA as a way to get out from my comfort zone, QED. Interested in the Oil&Gas industry I have not envisaged leaving this field.
* Is the EMBA from ESCP still a good choice ?
* In regards to my own criteria, do you have another training in mind ?
