Hello,
I would like some advice regarding a "career" change and the added value of an EMBA in my situation.
I currently work in the engineering department of a renewable energy developer basically doing design work and small managerial tasks - I wanted to enter in the energy bussiness and was the easiest way. Before, I worked for about 5 years for an International engineering consultancy firm as senior engineer working in projects around the world mainly doing detailed design and management. Before that I worked as a project engineer and contract manager for an environmental contractor.
I like technical work but it has been a couple of years I think I want to change in the mid term (3 years?) to something more related with management and finance. I would like to stay in the energy bussiness but I do not want to close doors either.
I live in London and I am thinking about doing an EMBA (20-30 months) while working so I think London based EMBAs are ideal for my situation. For the long term I might want to go back to Spain but it is secondary at the moment.
I already have 2 engineering degrees, 2 MSc in engineering and a PGcert in Finance. I am looking to develope managerial skills, networking and make my CV more interesting for non-engineering roles so I can try and make the move in the future.
I think I could move to non-tehcnical roles within my company but it might take a few years and I think I might want to speed up the process and open more doors.
I have been checking courses and I think the following might be good options which I could afford:
Imperial EMBA
ESCP EMBA (London)
Any suggestions and tips? I want to keep working while studying.
Regards,
C
