How to evaluate IIFT's Executive PGDM

Hi,
I am considering only part-time/online programs and came across IIFT's Executive PGDM Online: https://docs.iift.ac.in/pilotweb/oepgdm/brochure.pdf

The duration of the program is 15 months. The classes will be held on weekends. There are 20 courses including industry visits for 3 credits each. So the total is 60 credits. Is it too little? The fee is 4.5 lakhs.

How do I evaluate this program properly? I am interested in working in India only.

I'm not sure what your career goals are. The curriculum of this course is really unusual, lacking most of the core you'd see in an AMBA-accredited MBA. I think a traditional general management degree from a school with a strong network in your target firms would be a better investment.

Hi Duncan, thanks for replying. My goal is to transition to a non-tech role in the future(currently in tech).
Yes, the curriculum is different as the institute focuses on trade as its name implies. It's regular program is a better mix of the core MBA courses.

I am looking at MDI Gurgaon's online PGDM as well: https://www.mdi.ac.in/programmes/pgdm-online-programme.

But its 8.95 lakhs is almost 3 times that of IMI Delhi's 2.95 lakhs. It's a better brand though.

It all comes down to your goal. If you want a non-tech role that requires a general management degree, then the price of a functional degree in international trade doesn't matter: it's not a cheaper route to your goal, it's a road away from your goal.

Thanks for your advice. Makes sense. But the prices I am comparing aren't for the trade degree. It is for the general management degrees offered by IMI Delhi and MDI Gurgaon. Could you tell me what you think of them?

The difference in price and course design are less essential for you than what aligns better with your career goal. Since I don't have a very clear idea of your career goal, I can't make more than a very general comment. These look like well-designed programs. MDI is understandably more costly because of on-campus attendance, more content and less use of off-the-shelf content from Coursera. IMI and MDI look like good schools for professional services and finance, with IMI a bit stronger in tech and MDI better for manufacturing. IMI has more PGDM alumni.
