Insufficient work experience: MBA vs MiM vs more experience

Hi everyone, I was hoping someone here can help me with some resources or guidance on this.

I believe I have insufficient work experience for an MBA, but I'd like to change career paths and go into Fintech. I've mainly worked as a freelance finance consultant but no big positions with contracts.

Given my current job and qualifications, I think it'd be hard to get into a decent program. I understand that a MiM is a better choice for people in my position, but it's hard to decide between that or trying to get more relevant work experience and then applying to an MBA further down the road.

If you have any interesting reads on this or experiences, I'd highly appreciate it.

I assume you are in Europe, where more work experience is needed for an accredited MBA.

I have managed public relations for various fintechs, and note that they tend to have a lot more people with technical degrees than MBAs. If you have three years of freelance experience by the time you start the MBA, there is some MBA which will admit yuo. However, an MSc from a better business school with a more relevant alumni network could be a better choice. See: How to use LinkedIn to find the best school www.find-mba.com/board/33571 A masters from LBS, LSE or Oxbridge will generally be better placed than an MBA from a school outside the UK top ten, for example.

Thanks for the link and the info Duncan! Interesting to hear your take on this. I believe I'll put my efforts and energy into a MSc, given my goals and background, as it seems to make a lot more sense, but I'll go through all the details before making a final decision.
