LSB mini-MBA vs MBA Durham

Hello,

I am a bit confused, and I need help to move forward on my decision. I am a PhD in technology, i have more than 10 years experience in business and 5 years experience in Strategy and Marketing. I am based in Germany and more international than UK based.
I was thinking to make an MBA to balance my CV from technical, even if i work a lot in Strategy, Marketing and Management.

I got offers from Durham, Birmingham and Bradford, but i was thinking that LSB MBA Essential could be an alternative due to my profile and experience (just to make a stamp of
MBA on my CV from a prestigious School).

please any advice ?

I have no idea what the LSB is, but a certificate like that carries no academic credit and is much less serious than, for example, the LSE graduate diploma in management or the Maryland MBA Core.

thank you for your quick reply. sorry I meant LSE MBA Essential. when i check the average salaries after Durham MBA, I am today already at the same level or higher. what is the benefits to have an academic credit ? besides having an other degree ? isn't the knowledge the most important than the degree itself ? your view?

An attendance certificate shows you can sit on a chair and click the Next button. Without academic assessment I have no idea if you learnt anything.

I think you need to reframe your goals and think about other options. If you're already at the post-Durham MBA salary (three years out it's $120k USD) then maybe an EMBA or online program would be more appropriate than an the in-class options.

Hello,
thank you for your answer. the offers i have are already online programs. the EBMA is also an option.
My goal is to see clearly on my CV that i have a business background. in reality i have it but sometimes the job titles does not reflect it and my PhD in technical puts me automatically in the view of recruiters as a technical expert (Which I am not)

An MBA is an expensive way to get 'business background' on your CV. If this is all you are looking for out of a degree, then certainly there are more cost-effective, less time-consuming options?

The real value of an MBA is in the network. If you're going to invest in a degree, make sure it has the network that will get you to the next step in your career.

In all honesty, recruiters usually will care less about an 'MBA' on a CV. However, if that MBA comes from a school they're familiar with - and ideally, have recruited from before - this is what will make the difference.
