MBA for career in Energy Industry- plz suggest schools

Hey Guys,
I am Aditya from Vizag, India
Please evaluate my profile and suggest some schools.
Indian, Male, 26.
BTech in Electrical Engineering JNTU, Kakinada in April 2010.(80%- top 5 in class)
Working in GAIL(India) Ltd as Sr.Engineer since April,2011.(Youngest Executive Engineer)
Previously worked as Scientist C- Trainee in Council of Scientific and industrial research, Govt of India for 8 months
Extra Curricular :
1. Was Class leader in 1st year BTECH
2. Was Head of Cultural Committee of College.
3. Won in robotic Symposiums in College and Quizzes in GAIL
4. Was All India Rank- 257 in GATE 2010.
5. No community work as such - just a member of 2 degrees Sustainability Forum.
6. Help Organize a Blood Camp once in college.
Negatives:
1. Got Admitted to IIT,Kharagpur for MTech but ditched it for a research scientist post in CMERI, CSIR.
2. Left CSIR because I was vexed of the research yielding no immediate results for industry or common man.(I was working in Hybrid Control systems for advanced Robotics)
3. so this leaves a period of April 2010 to April 2011 as void, without any significant career rise.
GMAT Score:(Exam Given on 12.07.2014)
720 : 49Q, 41V : AWA-5 : IR:7
Post MBA Goals:
I want to stay in Energy Field itself as I love the field and even my career until now has been with a Natural Gas Major. I want to see myself as Energy Analyst or in the field of Clean Tech.
I would diverge to Strategy based jobs within Technology Focused Organizations, if possible.
Please suggest me good colleges for September, 2015 intake. I would prefer European(including UK) colleges as I feel I would fit well there and even the length of MBA is one year making it ideal for me.

It's not clear to me how much work experience you have, and this will be a major factor in your competitiveness.
Typical MBA programs for this career path in the UK are Aberdeen Business School, Warwick, and Cranfield; in Europe you'd want to look at maybe IMD. Cohorts at these schools have an average work experience of at least 5 years or more though.

I have joined GAIL in April 2011 and continuing since. So i have a work-ex of 3.5years.

You're on the low side in terms of work experience at the schools I mentioned, so if I were you I would hedge my bets with a "safety" school where you substantially outscore the average GMAT. Lancaster, maybe

I am also in a similar position but have more work experience (10 years). I'm looking at Europe. IMD sounds interesting, but what about ESCP Europe's Executive Master in Energy Management? Is that a reputed program?

Yeah, it's a good program, although since it's an executive-level program it's obviously aimed at a different group of candidates than the other programs I mentioned.

If you're not already in the energy sector I'd be hesitant about using an executive program as leverage to break into the field. But perhaps the ESCP program would work for that, and if that's your situation you should ask the school about grads who have successfully transitioned into the sector.

I'm not in the energy sector, I currently work in information systems. Do you think that an MBA program like IMD's would be appropriate for somebody with my range of experience?

Yes, I think that if you want to make a such a large transition, then a full-time MBA program is probably your best bet. And really, since the median work experience at IMD tends to be in the 7+ year range, then you're not that much outside of the ballpark.

Still, you should reach out to the school and ask them how many people make this kind of shift. It looks like less than 10 percent of the most recent class went into the energy sector; that's not a huge number.

I see. Do you have any other suggestions for MBA programs in Europe (or even England) which would be appropriate for me and my career goals? Others have suggested IE Business School and ESADE, but both of these are in Spain and I am not sure they place well in energy.

Yes, exactly. Both of those would be great choices. I can't think of another program on the mainland that places well in energy. If anything, you should research the big energy firms in Europe -- Royal Dutch Shell, Total, E.ON, etc. -- and see if they recruit from specific business schools.

Hi,
I have around 14 years of work experience. I was working in IT sector for 8 years and after that did my MBA from IIM Calcutta (current FT Ranking 13, in Masters in Management). For last six years I am working in an Energy Industry in India. In the Energy Industry initially I was working as a process consultant and now working as a SCM Manager (Contract Specialist).
I am looking for a MBA/EMBA which will be energy focused, mainly in Canada / Australia / Norway/ Germany. I want to work in any of these countries.
Currently I don't have GMAT score and in this time frame and work pressure difficult to achieve 650+.
Can anyone please suggest any good MBA course who can take me based on my experience without GMAT.
Initially I thought of Seneca college's "Global Logistics Management" course, in order to bridge my IT and SCM (Contract Management) career. But not very sure, whether that will be sufficient for me to get a job/work permit in Contract Management.
Kindly advice on both the MBA/EMBA as well as any advanced certification course options.

If you don't have the time to do the GMAT, how can you have the time to take an MBA?

If you want to work in one of these countries then you'll need to get into an MBA programme which is not only great, but is great at placing foreigners. Read: Best schools for international students' placement http://www.find-mba.com/board/41143

Either way, I think 650 or 700 is exactly what you need.

Yes, a ranked school, which would require a good GMAT score, would be ideal. UBC Sauder has good placements in the energy sector, as do Haskayne and Alberta. In Germany and Norway you'd probably need language schools in either German or Norwegian, I'd imagine. Not sure about good Australian schools for energy, perhaps University of Western Australia? At the very least it's in a good region for energy jobs.

You'll also probably need to explain why you are looking for a second MBA after getting one from IIMC.
