I don't think top MBAs work like that outside India. Generally the MBA is a programme in general management which allows people to either accelerate in their own field internationally or make substantial transitions (especially into finance or consulting). MBAs who previously worked at IBM, HP, Accenture, Oracle, TCS etc are mostly likely to work for those firms, and in IT roles. Otherwise, sales, consulting, operations and programme and project management are easy routes for people to make, but it doesn't always require a formal specialisation. Generally, it's the quality of the school and the passion of the student rather than whether or not there are formal specialisations which best enables MBAs to change direction.
