Mentionining other schools in the application

Do you think it is a good idea to expressly mention other business school in the application? I mean I know from my friends studying at other universities in the same country, how the way of education differs from my target university - should I write st. like "I am interested in your uni, especially because of your educational approach, which is just the opposite to the university X and Y..." ?

I don't think it's harmful as long as what you say about the other schools is fair, and perhaps something they might even say about themselves. For example, It's good to say: I prefer Warwick's course, which has fewer core courses and more electives than Manchester, because that gives more flexibility. But it's bad to say: I like that Manchester takes the core courses seriously, unlike Warwick which speeds through them amateurishly.

Schools know how they differ from their competitors - they don't need to be told that.

But I think that this approach might work if you state expressly how this differentiation is important for you, specifically. Schools always want to know why you would be a good fit for their program: "your unique educational approach makes sense for me because of x, y, and z."
