Query regarding MBA programs.

Dear Sir / Madam,

I am a working IT professional and planning for a career in management field.
I am planning to appear GMAT, aiming for some of the best B schools abroad India.

Please find a snapshot of my profile below:

Work experience: 4 years. (current company: SAP Labs, previous company: ATOS)
Working on SAP ERP (HR applications)
Social committee Member at SAP Labs.
Client appreciation for innovative solution and consultation.

B.Tech: 86.2%
12th : 82%
10th : 87%

Extracurricular:
- Started a Independent Organisations for Development of Orphanages.
- Passionate Photographer.
- Participated in National Conferences in college.

Could you please let me know, how suitable the profile to be selected for MBA programs in any reputed institutes abroad.

I also need some detailed information regarding Admission procedures, cost of study etc.

I will really appreciate your guidance as I am interested to get into some of the best colleges and need to know about scholarship facilities.

For really detailled information, I suggest you read one of the many books on getting into an MBA. Respected MBAs outside India are, generally, for graduates with between 3 to ten years of work experience, so it suits you. You should aim for a GMAT score over 700.

A couple of things:

Your profile (Indian with a background in IT) is a very competitive one. Your GMAT score will be a big determinant in what schools you should apply to. Take a practice test to find out what kind of score you're likely to get, and we can go from there. With a 700+, you'd be more competitive at schools like LBS and Booth, but with something lower there are other options.

Where do you want to go to school? Do you want to work somewhere else, or will you be going back to India after graduation. Visa concerns will be a consideration: It's harder now to get a post-graduation work visa in the UK than it is in Canada, for instance. Also, your career goals might come into play: if you want to start a tech business, for example, you might consider Stanford, but if you want to land in the health care industry, you might look closely at schools like Boston University or Rutgers.

Thanks a lot for the reply.

I took some GMAT practice tests and the score lies between 720 to 740.
I would like to do my MBA from any of the best schools, preferably in USA.
Is it fine or possible to work in US after graduating from any reputed schools there for long term.
Financial concerns is the main hurdle, so I am interested to get some info regarding which all colleges offer scholarships.
As, the cost of study abroad for an Indian student is on higher side, am I thinking to take the right risk ?
After graduating, I would be much interested to work in Consulting or Finance field.

As I don't have much knowledge on MBA programs , please guide me which colleges will be suitable for my profile and future prospect.

I would take a close look at the schools on these lists:

The top schools are generally not going to be able to provide much scholarship support, relative to the cost. However, they are very good investments, so even if Rochester Simon students get less than 10% of their studies funded, on average - they make back the total cost of tuition in just a couple of years, because of their good salary growth.

Your qualification is excellent. Your GMAT score will decide the b-schools. if you would able to score above 70% in GMAT then I would suggest you two college IIM Pune and Metropolitan School of Management, New Delhi

The GMAT scores on a scale of 200 to 800. Getting 70% seems difficult.

I can't see why anyone would consider unranked schools without international accreditation, like Metropolitan School of Management, when they are looking at some of the world's top business schools.

Hi JK Duncan , If you are deciding do MBA in top B-school but saying 70% getting in GMAT is difficult task that means you will not a perfect manager. A candidate who willing to make career in management field he/she should be positive attitude, for them nothing is possible.

I wan't clear enough. The GMAT score is not a percentage. It's a scale with 800 as the maximum. A score of 70% of the maximum is not especially strong: most of the top schools will look at scores above 700.
