Rochester vs Maryland vs Wash-U

Hello,

I have been accepted by Maryland Smith and Rochester Simon (both places with a 50 percent scholarship) and Washington University’s Olin (no scholarship here). I currently work with Deloitte as a risk consultant and I want to move towards a management consulting role post MBA in a firm of similar size.

As an international (Indian male to be precise) student, what would be the best bet? While I am certainly excited about having admits from all these schools, I am concerned about the ROI each program would provide. Hence I am more inclined towards the schools that are offering me a scholarship. How should I go about choosing which program to attend. I am interacting with current students and alumni but am unable to take a final call. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Duncan. This is helpful but does that mean that Wash-U Olin has a better program than Rochester and Maryland? I am ready to invest a full 100k on the program only if it is significantly better than the other two.

Also, I have been waitlisted at Duke, UNC and Indiana Kelley. So very confused! What would be your advice for me?

what u want to do after mba is important duke, unc and kelley are good for investment banking
simon is good for corporate banking olin is very renowned though i would take simon anyday if i am chasing money and would go for duke over any other programs

Judging by the FT rankings, Olin is ranked higher and has better post-MBA salaries. That's not the whole story, though: Simon actually ranks higher than Olin in terms of international mobility, which is the success rate of grads who transition from one country to another. For many international students, this is a good indicator of how good the school is in terms of opening doors to the US job market.

Duke would probably be a better choice than the other though, if you get an admit in the end. The school's top placement industry is management consulting, according to the Businessweek ranking.
