Hi All,

I have 9+(almost 10) years of Exp in IT as a BA, got admitted to the University of Edinburgh(but no scholarship) so I didn't opt for it for Sept 2020, now I have applied for Manchester, done with Video Assessment(awaiting response). I got an offer from the University of Strathclyde, their classes will begin from 26 oct 2020.
Wanted to know the placements rate as it didn't feature in FT times this year.

Long Term goal: Need strategy and leadership roles in either IT (product or service-based) or other top FMCG.

My main criterion is I want to work abroad for a long time.
Targetting Vlerick Business School(Belgium) as well.

Let me know your reviews on both and if anything else I should target.

The Economist and QS rankings also have placement data.

Vlerick is a great choice if you speak Dutch and French. Such a lovely building.

Confused here, applied to Durham and
Manchester, awaiting a response. But in so many posts about Strathclyde what I have observed is their placement is higher compared to others.
Started taking lesson for dutch, English is something I'm comfortable with so UK was the best bet and hence these schools.

If you want to be in a leadership role in IT then you probably should have been a bit further advanced in your IT career by now. There is a lot of strong competition at this level, I'm not sure an MBA in itself will help you close the gap to an IT leadership position. A Product Manager role might be a more achievable goal (in the shorter term at least.)

You've been a BA for 10 years or you have 10 years work experience and are now at a BA level? If you want to be in a leadership role in IT then you probably should have been a bit further advanced in your IT career by now. There is a lot of strong competition at this level, I'm not sure an MBA in itself will help you close the gap to an IT leadership position. A Product Manager role might be a more achievable goal (in the shorter term at least.)

Unfortunately i had a very mixed profile...developer to ba to scrum master to qa to qa manager. N to be precise i mention BA as m into insurance domain since past 10 years.
Trust me i did everything i could to change my profile but things never worked. So mba is my last hope.

Have you spoken to your current employer about a leadership path? It might not be too late, maybe something like Head of Project Delivery Would be a good intermediate aim. I'm not convinced an MBA by itself is really going to help you get into a senior IT leader role.

Not sure if architecture should be a decisive factor in this kind of decision. If they don't speak one of the official Belgian languages, and are expecting to transition into the country for work, this would probably not be the best idea. If they're not looking to transition into the country, there are better / more international schools out there.

It's a really weird choice, if you don't speak Dutch. Have you even looked at the placement percentage from Vlerick for foreigners?
