Alot of people seem to think that there's a fit for every school. Do you think this is fact or false? Is there a difference between fit for an American MBA and European MBA? Please pitch in.

Fit as in...is there really a specific culture/reputation for each MBA program, and is there a corresponding type of personality that fits the culture/reputation. Do applicants really have to tailor their essays to such "fit", or should applicants just worry about getting certain general points across (career goal, life story, tec.)

Hmm I think yes to some degree. But I definietely don't think there is only one "fit" out there for each person. There are only so many variants between programs. There are obviously several schools that could meet any students needs.
When it comes to essay writing... I don't neccessarily think you have to write radicially different things for each program. You should focus on selling yourself; and demonstrating your knowledge about the school is kind of secondary. So, while I always tailor my essays to each school I don't totally rewrite them...
Another thought: I think fit applies more to the applicant than the school.. I think the school will choose its students based on merit. And that students will choose the school based on "fit".
