What do you think about USI Lugano for a master's in Finance?

It is one of the constituent Universities of the Swiss financial institute (alongwith top schools like ETH Zurich, EPFL, Lausanne), which is one of the best places in the world for finance academia and a PhD in finance. However, USI seems to be pretty young and doesn't have a proper business school unlike Lausanne. What students are a good fit for this program? I do speak italian fluently

I think USI is a really exciting school. If you speak Italian or don't need placement support it's a great choice.

Their placements seem to be pretty good

I think it's hard to the placed from there if you don't speak Italian or German. So go there:
- if you are attractive to one of their corporate partners, I.e. speak Italian and are admitted, or
- don't want to be, or are not, valuable those employers.

They have a great market niche, so good place but careers services teams don't have big challenges there.

You are right. It seems surprising that Lausanne has such dismal stats when it comes to job offers upon graduation and is ranked higher than USI. I feel USI is a pretty solid option if one wants to go in for a finance Phd at the SFI.
