General Questions about GMAT

Hi all,

I recently just graduated in May 2018 from undergrad with a 3.4 GPA, with a financial Economics degree from an US university. I was fortunate enough to get a job after graduation working in media investing. I'm currently working but I have a few questions about the gmat and my future. Should I begin studying now and take the test at the end of the year, or do scores expire. Also should i continue working and gain more job experience and not worry about the gmat for another 3 years, because i know of people who got there MBA right after undergrad. also any recommendations for gmat practice and even tutors in nyc?

I would say take your GMAT now, when your studies specially mathematics is still fresh in your mind. From experience, getting back to disciplined studying schedule becomes tough once you join the workforce.

GMAT scores are valid for 5 years.You can work and gain work experience for 3 years, this way you'll also save some money for your MBA. But take the GMAT now, and if the score is not what you hope for then take it again in 3 years. Better still your company may sponsor you.

Everything is so much simpler if you take the GMAT in advance. Schools can give you a strong indication in advance of whether you will be right for them, and they might even actively approach you using the GMAC database.

Agreed with Ayon. For many people, the quant portion can be tricky the farther they get away from their studies. If you've been studying math or physics or anything quant-related, it's probably better to try the GMAT out now and see where you stand. You can always retake the closer you get to an actual MBA program.

Khan academy offers excellent math (among other) courses for any level from zero to super advanced
It is great for GMAT or other school test preparations.

Sorry if it sounds like advertising, they are free so they deserve the mention for helping out anyone that needs to learn but can't afford it. The world needs accessible education! In the IT world most people know and use Khan Academy

They also have special section for GMAT preparation (for free of course):
