It's fresh news. I was surprised and pleased to see Strathclyde so high up. I have a Masters in Business I.T. Systems and have just embarked on the EMBA at Manchester.

I wonder why the Manchester EMBA was not assessed.

Manchester doesn't have an EMBA. It runs a Global MBA, which is not eligible for the FT's EMBA ranking because it is not a cohort programme.

I was in the Cohort One during the first week of my Global MBA.

Is that the two-year programme? My friend is on the three year MBA MBA and she certainly has different people at each meeting.

It is the three year one but this month was the first event. They had so many in the UK that they split it into two cohorts.

I guess people will move around once we get the chance to do the classes abroad.

Is that two groups, or two cohorts? A cohort moves in lock-step through the degree, and the FT ranks only cohort programmes in the EMBA ranking.

It was perhaps only the name applied by MBS. FT.COM should get their act together with the rankings and start measuring other types of MBA.

We have only completed one class -Global Events and Leadership. I can't say I learned much that I did not already know but there was an element of fun involved. Yes there Was teamwork. It was certainly difficult to harness the talents of the non-English speakers. I observed in the group presentations that every non-English female fulfilled the role of PowerPoint slide controller rather than presenting. I wonder if the examiners noticed this.

Thank you Cammy... well, Manchester is not very demanding in term of TOEFL (I remember that they ask 90 for the full time MBA .. which is way lower than usual 100, or even 105 asked by Warwick and I think SAID) so they probably expect such problems.

Some weeks ago I exchanged some emails with the adcom and it seems that Manchester will propose an emba starting from next year. So far, they don't give any details, but actually this is the way they will replace the accellerated path supressed this year.
