My partners workplace are encouraging her to do an MBA. She's already done a Chartered Managers Award. Is it much different? Will there be any benefit of her doing the MBA?

Yes. Very different content, prestige, classmates and networks. All CMI courses are the same but MBAs differ. Check out the FT executive MBA ranking.
