MBA Healthcare for non-medical degree holder

Hello.

I am 21 yrs old and have been working as SCM Operations Agent at A.P. Moller - Maersk, Myanmar for 7 months. On the other hand, I am also serving as an Assistant Manager at medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and related trading company which is a family business for more than 2 yrs approx.

My degrees are B.Eng (Hons) Mechatronics with First Class Honours from University of Wolverhampton, UK and BBA from Don Bosco University, India which I completed simultaneously because BBA is an online distance learning program. I'm pretty confident that my IELTS band score would be 7.0 at least when I take. However, I don't have plan to take GMAT.

I would like to work in medical related field after my MBA such as hospital manager or management role in hospital setting. I am considering to apply for UCL MBA Health next year. Besides UCL MBA, which MBAs in UK would be suitable for my goal?

How well have you researched this career path?

Because most hospitals in the UK are run as public services, hospital managers don't generally need or have MBAs here: salaries are around £45,000 in the NHS and £55,000 in the much smaller private sector. These are not MBA level roles and there are specific regulatory requirements: https://www.cqc.org.uk/guidance-providers/registration/what-registration

Because of the regulated setting, their key skills are functional and supervisory, focussing on operations and people management, rather than general management, for example, strategy, marketing, finance etc.

Because of clinical, budgetary, regulatory and service requirements, you'll see most courses for healthcare managers are focussed on those issues. PS The UCL business school is really serving a global market, rather than a domestic one.

What type of jobs can I get right after MBA in Health for a non-medical professional like me?

I am very interested in working in healthcare related sectors because my family business involves in dealing with such sector for many years which have driven my passion.

I suggest you look at adverts for UK hospital managers on LinkedIn. They are almost never doctors, but often they are qualified nurses. Go to https://www.healthcareers.nhs.uk/explore-roles/explore-roles and scroll down to 'Management', then open up to see what sort of roles might fit you.
