Dude, congrats...If you are taking up the LSE offer, u will be going to the institution which gave the world 15 nobel prize winners in economics and other subjects....as far as the quality is concerned I dare not speak about it, LSE is quality, you dont talk about quality at LSE...well some people do speak negatively of LSE...but its its cheap talk...believe me...my sis studies at LSE and I know better...

choosing LSE will be a fantastic decision for your career...the LSE brand-name help in a big way...go for it...its expensive but you will get the worth...ATB...ciao

i suspect that the programme at warwick may have a better education but lse would be a far better overall package.

Well, its truely hard to compare actually...

Warwick B School as the name suggests is top class business school so the concentration is on developing a very competitive course like ISM, alliance like SAP Uni alliance for ISM and partnerships like PIM and with Delloite for ISM dissertation...not to speak about the accreditations like equis, aacsb and awards like B2B Superbrands etc.

LSE on the other hand is terribly focussed towards research...does not believe in any accreditations...very high brand name and band equity...its not a business school rather the apex of all social science departments/institutions in UK (if not the world actually!)...very high on RAE, LSE walks alone with almost no partnerships/alliance at all...

Again very hard to compare Warwick and LSE...each has its own strong points...we need to understand where we want to be in the future if any one of us gets admits from both of them...Both are elite and both will open fantastic career options...

It's not an easy decision. But I might opt LSE for following reasons.
1. Global brand-name. LSE is equally respected from Africa to America, In the long-run the brand name does matter. I have experienced that in the past.
2. I am looking forward towards career as an IT consultant/analyst. Most of these jobs are available in BFSI domain. And LSE is the most preferred option for these organizations.
3. I can choose Corporate Finance Module as an external option at LSE. I am very much looking forward to learn it from the masters of the subject. This will give additional boost to the career.
4. At LSE, I will have a great opportunity to attend the public events, involving well-known Economists and Politicians. Updated Knowledge of global economy, reforms and political situations is very important aspect of any Management Education.
5. It's located in the city of London, Financial hub of the World.

Please note that Warwick is also a very good B-School. As you would understand, the decision I am making is purely based on my personal preferences. This does not mean that Warwick is inferior. In fact, Warwick is much more practical in it's course with a lot of tie-ups with industry.

Both are great options. It's up to each individual to select the further course.

"Beg, Borrow or Steal"...As a student you have the very right to do any/all the three as long as you r investing in education and building urself a good career...TRY getting funding if u r short of it...give your level best, never settle for a compromise so easily...I not speaking in favour of either LSE or Warwick...but YOU think intelligently regarding future prospects and never regret regarding whatever decision you take...you can never come back...All the best buddy.

i am not terribly sure of LSE information systems master degree but having read few research articles from the faculty i am not impressed at all.

Certainly those are not proper research to be honest with you guys.

And judging purely from seeing the curriculum, it is not that difficult or hard-core. If you do the reading and able to throw together a few thousands every week then you will be fine.

this is not an information system community and i am not a professor in IS so dont count too much on me.

Also they never host any IS IT events in campus and only publish mediroce reports/books that nobody read but themselves.

The brand name is worth the money already but only if you dont bank your whole savings on it.

Look around to see if is there any other choices you like?
UCL and imperial college are two other brand names in London as well.

In IT dont worry too much about brand name, talents come from everywhere not like in those laws or politics or finance where people were selected for family connections or where they studied not what they can actually do

I'll agree on the fact that in IT the brand name of your University is not the supreme factor. That will help you get the interview call atmost. The rest is really upto your knowledge.
I have been in the IT industry for 7 years now and have worked as a software pro and have managed IT experts across continents for top tier IT companies.
I don't know anything on LSE's course but just want to convey that IT seeks talent and knowledge, wherever it finds them. Brand name helps but that is nowhere close to the deciding factor.

I am LSE ADMIS graduate. I agree with many things discussed in this forum except for one thing - research. I became a member of find-mba just to clear this misconception.

As you folks already know LSE is a research institute. The research in the IS department is strong and has a social science focus. It is top class. For example Leslie Willcocks, Ian Angell, Chrisanti Avgerou are all very reputed researchers. Here is an exercise for people interested in research - search for LSE IS department faculty on google scholar.You will find that they are all well published (good journals and good number of citations).

The research focus is different. So, do not compare it with CS departments or with IT courses in b-schools.
