MSc Finance - Durham Vs Cranfield Vs Lancaster Vs Strath

Hello Guys,

I have this following 4 offers:

Cranfield - Msc Finance & Management

Durham - Msc Finance & Investment

Lancaster - Msc Finance

Strath - Msc Finance

I am not from the UK so besides trusting the ranking, I have nothing where I can base my choice on.
After graduation I would like to work in Corporate Finance/IB, but probably after a year working in the UK I might move to the States.
I know there are better schools for fnance but I'd like to know in terms of reputation (for finace), alumni network, ecc...which one would you choose. If you guys could give me also a brief motivation for your choice it would be appreciated.

Also I am looking for a real practical course, where classes are interactive, a lot of presentations, group projects and not just studying a bunch of books.

Cranfield all the way. Durham is posh but the course is a lot overrated. You are made to read 4 or 5 text books during the year. I can name it: Investments by Bodie and Kane, Principles of corporate finance, John Hull book on Options, Futures.

That is it pretty pathetic for a huge fees, plus most lecturers are from Greece not problem where people come from but they are not as qualified and English not good plus the impression of learning finance from people who come from such a country like that. And very little computing and software skills plus no programming whatsoever. While you need to hack VBA code at least in Corporate finance and investment jobs.

Networking is also better in Cranfield and the course is also more rigorous. Lancaster have quite a few courses and they run their school very well and the flexibility of it is also worth mentioning. For a well-structured nothing fancy but solid go to Stirling cheaper and pretty cheap. I dont know about Strath but I would recommend look at St Andrews, Glasgow and Edinburgh as well. Personally recommend St Andrews
