I doubt anyone actually knew that portsmouth had an MBA...! But in terms of MBA rankings, they won't get in to any unless there is an obscure UK only ranking somewhere.

They will be ranked in UK uni rankings from the Times, but this is not necessarily a good indication for the MBA programme.

firstly you should know Portsmouth is an AMBA accredited MBA,with RAE quality point so high, i think its a good deal,

there ranking is no good when u consider guardian or times, but i feel it is stupid, bcoz RAE and AMBA is good for them, so they deserve better ranking.

And what actually has the RAE got to do with an MBA ranking? This measure the quality of research, which may be useful when judging the overall quality of academia in the department, but is not directly an influencing factor when deciding on an MBA.

Personally, I think their Times and guardian ranking is about right when you look at the other institutions they are placed with. And anyway, these rankings are not MBA rankings although for business the times put them at 51 which all in all, is not bad.

as you know AMBA is given based on high quality education, so not every uni has it. In Europe i think all the best uni's have AMBA and some great ones with AACSB n EQUIS too, so what these accredations does it, a student does not have to worry about quality of education.

so what is left next?, you know you have quality education, the next big thing is good JOB? if you looking at global market only fewer uni form uk are well know like Oxford n Cambridge

gaurdian rates leicester as number 2 B-school in UK, buy tht..and times has few blunders too like cardiff on 17 kickboxing Birmingham to 22, so 51 is definitely bad..lol...funny isnt it?

i feel prob with few schools is they are not marketed well!

not quite. AMBA is a UK specific accreditation and currently not so many Europeans have it. Think of it as competition. AMBA is trying to branch out and is firstly target non-US and then US universities. It is also offering accreditation for more than just MBAs now.

Likewise, EQUIS and AACSB compete as the leading accreditation body for B-Schools generally (not just MBAs). on eis Europe focused the other is US focused.

true, to a certain extent, but what it does if give you several hundred MBA programmes to choose between.

and LBS, Manchester, Warwick, Cranfield, Leeds.....etc.

You are right, the rankings are pretty screwed at times, and birmingham probably is a step above Cardiff. Rankings management is a big topic in UK universities. Many have offices with people solely working on this.

On the other hand I would still say that Portsmouth is in the right place. It is well below the likes of Cardiff, Birmingham and Leicester none of whom are top ten business schools.

i hope u know uni's like heriot watt, DMU,Middlesex earlier had AMBA accredation, but there accredation was taken off , as AMBA sets standard of minimum 3 year work exp , and i suppose these uni's took fresher too...when i study wid ppl wid minimum 3 year exp, it simply means we have practical knowledge as we have been on field. if i study in likes of aderdeen , heriot watt, it will be freshers... when u r a fresher you say yes i can do it, i ask fresher a simple question, i will give them my watch and ask them to sell it back to me...all i ment is case studies can be done well wid ppl wid good work exp.

i hope you know there are less than 40 uni's which hav triple accredation.i cant find several hundred jamieo...

when i study in portsmouth i am happy because i have AMBA accredation and RAE ranking 56.80, making portsmouth 15th best school in uk as per rae ranking.

now you tell what advantage will i have studyin in likes of aderdeen. heriot watt ?
