UK MBA or MIM for 1.5 years experience

I only have 1.5 years of experience and I am looking forward to studying in the UK.

Should I go for an MBA or a MIM?

If it's an MBA, which business school would take somebody with this low experience?

The other alternative would be a MIM at Cass or Imperial.

I am an engineering professional from Asia and I would like to move to the UK permanently. I don't have a GMAT score yet.

No, you can't get into an AMBA-accredited MBA without three years. See.

Thank you for the advice, Duncan. Out of curiousity how do you look at the AACSB accredited MBAs in the US that recruit students with less experience. SUNY Buffalo, for example.

They obviously produce inferior career outcomes for pre-experience students than the top MiMs. Plenty of discussion on the board about those schools if you search. Certainly not a bad choice for students who want to return to Asia.

There are other MBA programs in the US that recruit candidates with your range of work experience. Check out UNC Greensboro, Belmont Massey, Willamette - Atkinson, for instance.

However, Duncan is right about the career outcomes. However, this is partly a factor of employer demand: recruiters who hire MBAs are probably looking for people with a bit more experience, in general.

Thank you badux. I will look at these business schools. But I am also thinking about taking another year before applying so that I can get into a better school. In fall 2017 I would have about 4 years of work experience, perhaps by then I would be a more attractive candidate for MBA.
