UK MBA or MSc? | Experience in Advertising | 28 years old from India

Hi,

I'm 28 years old and am from India with over 7 years of experience in Advertising and Social Media Content Marketing.

I have worked with top-tier brands like Amazon, IBM, Unilever and Diageo - my work is around social media content and brand strategy.

I want to study further in the area of marketing and work on the brand side in marketing and strategy. I also would like to work abroad either in the UK or Europe.

I want to know what is more suitable - an MBA? Or an M.Sc in Marketing/Management? Also which universities would you suggest? Right now I'm keen on Warwick, Manchester and Imperial. Is the University of Edinburgh a viable option? I want to understand this from an employability perspective... I'd really like to venture into marketing for lifestyle, fashion, retail and/or FMCG brands.

Please do help, I'd really appreciate all of your inputs!

Given your focus on operational marketing, and MSc fits your needs better. UCD is worth looking at, and the specialised masters ranked by QS.

Counterpoint: an MBA, with your background and experience, could lead to more substantial roles / higher seniority. (especially if done at an FT-ranked school). Marketing / strategy will be addressed by any solid MBA program, my sense is that, unless you require some highly specialized skills, an MBA might lead to better career growth.

This person has long experience, but it might be very functional, and not be managerial experience that would be valued by a ranked program.

Thank you for your inputs. I have two years of leadership experience under my belt. Do you still suggest an M.Sc? Or is an MBA worth a shot?
