4.5+ exp with GMAT 650 - Indian IT Male (the most over-represented group)

Hello,
I took GMAT 2 months back and I managed scoring 650 (Q43, V37, AWA 5, IR 3). I know its not a great score and its merely average. I recently re-took and scored much lesser. Rejected the scores and have made up my mind to apply with the previous score of 650 in Round 2. Below are my qualifications:-
Bachelor Of Engineering (61.75%) - Full time - Indian University
M.S., (7.85 GPA on 10) - Full time - Indian University
Working as a Senior Engineer in a reputed US based IT firm from the past 4.5+ years.

The colleges that I am looking at with these credentials :-
Purdue-Krannert
TAMU Mays
UI Urbana Champaign
Indiana-Kelley

I believe I have the average score for Krannert and Mays. However, my average is way beyond Kelley and UIUC. Is it advisable for me to apply for these colleges. What are the odds of getting in, as i belong to a over-represented group and I am applying in round 2.
And if possible at all, can I expect some sort of financial assistance from these colleges in the form of Scholarships/Assistantships ?
Last but not least, I intend to work in Consulting or Techno-managerial kind of roles post MBA.
I know I am asking for too much with a mediocre performance on GMAT. Kindly have a say on this.

If you plan to work in the U.S. make sure to read the posts concerning visa requirements on these forums.
Also click on Duncan's profile and follow the links there, they are very useful in finding the right school for you

That being said, FT ranks Indiana University no.2 in the world in "career services ranking". That should help you find job there, if you can get past the visa restrictions

If you are already working in an IT based firm, you should contact them and see if they can get you some funding/sponsoring for the MBA.
A good path may be: Locate a university near the US offices of the company you work for. Ask your company to sponsor your mba and relocate you to their offices there. So you can study part time or weekend. And still work on that firm. That may help you overcome the visa requirements

Your score is a bit above the current GMAT average at Krannert (632) and basically the average at Mays (649). The GMAT scores at Kelley and Illinois are 670 and 665, respectively.

Of course you can apply to these schools, but whether you're competitive is another matter. As you're well aware, you are up against other, similar candidates, many of whom have higher GMAT scores. Although your US experience will set you apart somewhat, most of these schools will still be reaches for you.

If you can, retake the GMAT and try for around 700 - that would give you a much better chance, especially if you are looking for scholarship money. Otherwise, maybe round out your school list with a school where you'll have a better chance (Georgia State or Katz, maybe?) just to be on the safe side.
