Aiming for 2 year MBA at Babson

Hello everyone!

I am
- 23 years old Indian male
- Qualified Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India
- have 3 years of full time internship experience in financial and reporting (assurance services)
- have 8 months of professional experience in financial services (valuation of fixed income securities)
- Scored 590 (Q46,V26) on GMAT
- Good Undergraduate GPA (3+) in Bachelor of Commerce

I am aiming to apply for Two Year Full time MBA Program in Babson in the round 1.

Can the experts please tell me the chances of getting into the same?

On the basis of what you report, you are not a competitive candidate at Babson. Your BCom is perhaps not a four-year degree, which they require. On average the students have a GMAT over 630 and five or six years of post-graduation experience. You are below the MBA pool on every criterion.

On the basis of what you report, you are not a competitive candidate at Babson. Your BCom is perhaps not a four-year degree, which they require. On average the students have a GMAT over 630 and five or six years of post-graduation experience. You are below the MBA pool on every criterion.

That depends on your goals, but Bason is the outstanding school for entrepreneurs.

PS Ayon's comment below should be taken seriously. If you want to find employment in the USA, then Babson is not a great option since it focuses on entrepreneurship more than corporate employment.

Dude don't make the mistake of coming to US thinking it's land of milk and honey. Study in India. I still regret not joining SPJain PGPM and coming to US for my MBA. H1B is a toxic brand, companies will filter you out left and right. Don't shy away from competition in India. Given your bad GMAT score (according to Indian standards) you seriously need to think if you want to do MBA, a specialized master's in accounting might suit you better. Your call.

Or consider other countries (Canada, Australia). The H1B is indeed tough to swallow for many companies. However, thousands of H1B holders are hired each year, so it's not necessarily a lost cause.

Small correction. Thousands of H1B holders were hired each year. This year, with the new administration in town it's a different story. Attitude of companies have changed. KPMG US for example has refused to hire anyone on H1B below Manager level.

Moreover 85,000 H1B are issued every year. A Major junk of these goes to tech outsourcing giants Infosys, TCS, Cognizant and the likes for their engineering roles. Everyone fights for H1B regardless if you are a Software Engineer or a Management Consultant. If you are not studying from top 20 or so schools, it's hard to present a compelling case to a recruiter to hire you in the current market circumstances. Not scaring you, but just know what you are getting into.
