Congratulations on your decision! Applying for the MBA can be a scary, but very exciting process. To get into an MBA program, you will need to take the GMAT. If you did not go to an English speaking university, or you did not work in an English speaking country for the past 3 consecutive years, then you will also need the TOEFL or IELTS.

Besides good test scores, you need to write up some great essays. The most important question is the Why MBA? question. That will allow the adcom to see what your career plan is.

Additionally, you need good leadership and extra-curricular skills.

Technically, all MBAs (online, or regular) teach the same thing. But in reality, an MBA is judged by a combination of the brand of the school and its rank. Also, an MBA is not just about learning skills, it's also about networking with people. However, besides looking at those aspects, you need to look what you need--what specialization you want, part-time/full time, etc. That's really all I can say for now. Perhaps you should go to Business Week as a start and look at the school profiles and rank.

Yeah. BTW, why do you want an MBA?

In my case, i do not think i can do a campus program, i have full time job and family to take care of.

I have been working as a manager, sometimes i feel i am short of management skills. Besides I just set up a company here, i think it is better to learn some administrative skills to run the company.

Keep in mind that there are on-campus part-time MBA programs, too.

i am a current management masters student at Thunderbird School of Global Management, fall 2012. I am a chemical engineer from India with work experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing industry in India and China
The school has been great and i am really happy in my decision for pursuing a business masters.

Recently , I came across this smartphone application , one of my professors at the school has made. I think it gives a good outlook for understanding what a MBA program offers.
