Depending on your concentration, the St John's MBA is taught at Queens, Staten Island and on Manhattan. All as safe as New York is generally.

I haven't decided where I'll go yet. I'm going to apply to CUNY and Fordham, and then maybe NYU or Columbia, and just hope that they are liberal with their scholarship policies.

In terms of the safety of St. John's, I don't know that myself, sorry!

Guys, what do you think about the MBA at NYIT?

Do you have any specific questions? It's got AACSB accreditation, which means you'd get a solid education, but I don't think it has the same footprint or relevance as the other schools mentioned in this thread.

Guys I really want to go to New York City to do my MBA. I am putting a list of MBA programs there based on tuition. Even if I want to go to NYU or Columbia I don't know if it is possible based on the fees.

Wow, that seems like a lot of money. Are there any other programs in New York that are more affordable? Or ones that offer good scholarship amounts?

The cheaper ones have very different outcomes. If you wanted career progression with a smaller investment a one-year masters, like the exec programmes at Baruch, would be a better investment than a unranked, unaccredited MBA from a terrible school. Scholarships come at a price, and go to candidates that are better than average (The sad facts about scholarships http://www.find-mba.com/board/37055).

What are you submitting for the creativity section? It is a bit vague and I'm not sure what to submit.

Sounds like they either want to see a project you've done or something you've written. It seems pretty flexible, just make sure to highlight your creativity skills, leadership, collaboration potential, etc.

Hey, i have an undergrad (bsc) and master of science from (university of cape town) and (queen mary university of london) in accounting and management and organisational innovation with excellent grades respectively. i will be 26 when i want to enrol (spring 2017) i average three years of work experience and want to do an MBA in change management (specifically in nyc) as i plan on starting a corporate consulting firm in Africa to help smes with restructuring process when i am done. Pace apparently waves the GMAT requirement (i don't want to take the GMAT) for students with advanced degrees.. what are my chances of getting in?

To be honest, I don't think that an MBA from Pace will equip you as well for this as one in one of the several excellent schools in South Africa. The business cultures in these countries are so different that a US education, which really will present the US culture as normative, will not give you effective tools for an African context.

Yes, it's hard to go wrong with Columbia (for most students).

Although, even if you want to work in consulting in New York (I'm talking top-tier firms), you'd still probably be better off with Harvard or Wharton, because these schools have strong relationships with recruiters in the field.

Columbia's real placement strength is finance.

There's a lot of discussion here about Columbia but what about NYU? Does anybody have ideas about why it's not ranked as well as Columbia??

I think it's because Columbia grads have better salary growth over the long term.

They're both pretty typical in that they tend to place their grads in the core MBA industries, financial services and consulting, with Columbia focusing moreso on these sectors while NYU having a more diverse placement profile - marketing grads might drag down the average salaries. That's just my theory though.
