Mechanical Engineer looking for advice

Hello! I am a junior at the University at Buffalo pursuing a double degree in B.S. Mechanical Engineering and B.A. Dance. I just recently began thinking about going to graduate school.

This summer I have a position as a mechanical engineer intern and I was thinking of getting M.S. in a more narrow engineering field, however I believe I am much more oriented for leadership and opening my own businesses instead of research.

I am a recipient of the Excelsior Scholarship and after I graduate in Spring 2020, I will stay in NY for three years to honor my scholarship. I am wondering if it would be a good idea to work during those three years or look to go to graduate school in NY. If I work in NY and then leave state, I would probably move to the area where I would earn my MBA.

I would just like to narrow my path so I know what I should be looking for in my MBA and start my brainstorm with the help of others. Thanks!

Depends on what you want to do with the degree. In general you should go to the best school you can get into. The top MBA programs typically take applicants with 4-6 years of work experience so you have some time to figure it out. If you want to stay in New York you have a lot of great b-schools like NYU, Columbia, Cornell, etc.

And, of course, you would be a shoe-in at CUNY's Baruch school.
