I just read through the "Oregon's Top 5 MBA Programs" in the Portland Business Journal, published in December, and believe that it is a misleading ranking. It rates the schools by one factor: enrollment. So, the school that admits the most students is the "best;" the ranking does not account for (1) accreditation, (2) post-MBA career statistics, or even (3) reviews from graduates. These are the top five:
1. Marylhurst
2. Willamette - Atkinson
3. Oregon State
4. Portland State
5. Concordia University - Portland
Two of the five schools, Marylhurst and Concordia, do not even have accreditation from AACSB, AMBA, or EQUIS.
This ranking is like saying that the University of Phoenix is the top university in the US, simply because it admits so many students. It's lazy, and with all the other valuable MBA rankings out there, should be ignored.
