New US News b-school rankings

Top ten list is almost EXACTLY like last year:

1. (tie) HBS
1. (tie)
3. Wharton
4. (tie) MIT Sloan
4. (tie) Kellogg
6. Booth
7. Haas
8. Columbia
9. Dartmouth Tuck
10. NYU Stern

I'm wondering why US News feels they have to update this list every year. Why not save the energy and just do it every two years? It's always the same schools!

Exactly. These rankings, even if they don't really change, draw more readers, meaning more sales and ad revenue. The only thing that would make them publish them less regularly is if people stopped tuning in every year.

I'll note that although there is still media coverage on US News' rankings, there seems to be less each year, with many pointing out that there's not much of interest.
