That depends on your goals and your alternatives. It's three semesters rather than four, so it's 3/4 of the cost of the two year MBA. If you want to return home, or or if you don't need an internship, then it's a great programme.

I have been offered by Purdue to change my application from 2 year full time MBA to the one year STEM program since my future goal is to become a consultant in the Technology industry and take up leadership roles and implement technological solutions. I already have a background in this role and want to gain more perspectives on business leadership etc.

I am an Indian and I would like to find a job in the USA after this program. Since this will be the first year of the STEM program, I am worried about placements, especially for international students like me. After spending a huge amount... 62,000$, I would certainly want to have a good chance of finding a top job in the US itself.

Please let me know your thoughts on this. If placements are not good (also no internship), I would rather go for the 2 year MBA...

Unless you have substantial US experience in the field where you want to work, I recommend the two year program.

Agree with Duncan. You can't underestimate the importance of that second year and an internship. More time for networking, electives, etc.

And this is a brand new program, I always advise people to wait for a couple years after a program is launched so that post-career graduation options and placements become more clear. Not that I doubt that a school like Purdue could put together a solid program, but it's just untested at this point.

@Duncan ... I am also in a similar boat as @sridhar95_04 ... I have a GMAT score of 710 and 6 years work ex in IT (software development purely technical) ... I wish to continue in IT industry only but in a business/techno managerial role ...want to work/job in USA ...

Definitely 1 year MBA has no internship ... but it has active projects ... moreover tuition and living costs for 2 year mba are way higher ... Since I want to continue in the same industry ... just want a change in role ... Would it be really that difficult to get a job after 1 year MBA ?

What could be the possible risks of doing new 1 year mba at purdue in case I don,t want an industry shift (only role change)

Yes, it's that hard.

If you didn't want to change country, then it would be simple. You would not need a degree to progress in your own country.

Two year costs are not that much higher: you have one extra semester, and the earnings from your internship defray that.

I don't need to spell out the risks: the risk is that you don't meet your goal.

For better value, it's hard to find anywhere with strong outcomes for international students on a par with Purdue but at a lower price inside the USA. Are you aware of any other STEM designated 1 year MBA programs?

Is this Krannert program even still around? I thought they cancelled it a few years ago.

The only one-year MBA that I know which is STEM certified is Georgia - Terry's, but you need to already be enrolled in the school's undergraduate program to get into it...
