Rice vs Emory, focus on healthcare
Posted Apr 01, 2022 11:52
Hi there! I've been looking into programs which provide a strong focus or background for someone who wants to go into healthcare. Rice and Emory have particularly stood out to me for several reasons and the average graduate tuition is quite similar between them. I would highly appreciate it if anybody with experience here were be able to point out any clear advantages for one or the other in this scenario?
Cheers!

Even though healthcare is a rather niche field for MBA grads, there is still a ton of options within it. This choice really depends on your plans: what kind of organization do you want to work for? (HMO? Hospital? Research center?) If possible, have specific firms / organizations in mind. Once you've determined this you can work backwards. See who's working in those organizations in the kinds of roles you'd be looking for, and see where they studied for their MBA.
Also: For schools of this level, and especially with an industry like this, placements will tend to be highly regional. If you want to work in Texas, I'd lean towards Rice.
