School hopes to increase networking opportunities for students

Lancaster University Management School has announced that it will begin delivering some of its MBA curriculum in London.

"Whilst the majority of MBA teaching will continue to be delivered at Lancaster," said program director Chris Saunders, "using our London location means that our students are learning finance in the heart of one the world’s most dynamic financial centres."

The MBA components that will be delivered in London include a module in accounting and finance as well as the program's "Corporate Challenge," which is a two-month long consulting project or internship with a business.

The school will also offer career events in London, and indeed, Lancaster hopes to leverage the location to increase networking opportunities for students. "Many international companies have their UK offices in London so our international students have increased opportunities to develop relationships with relevant individuals at these companies before they complete their studies," said Saunders.

To improve networking and post-MBA job opportunities, Lancaster also announced that it is doubling the number of career events that it is offering during the MBA program, from two to four.

The career events and classes will be held on the premises of the "Work Foundation," in central London near St. James's Park and Westminster.

The majority of the MBA will still be delivered on Lancaster's main campus, which is about 400 kilometers northwest of London. But despite the school's distance from the capital, Saunders told FIND MBA in 2012 that many students end up working in London anyway: “I would say that almost all of our students end up in London after the program,” he said. “They won't all stay there, but they'll try to head there first.”

Applicants who are interested in doing their MBA in London have many options: London Business School, Imperial College Business School, Hult, Cass Business School, Brunel Business School, and the University of Westminster all offer internationally-accredited full-time MBA programs in the city.
