Pittsburgh - Katz to Launch an Executive MBA in Healthcare

19-month long EMBA program will be offered beginning in May 2017

The University of Pittsburgh's Katz Graduate School of Business has announced that it will launch an Executive MBA in Healthcare beginning in 2017.

The new EMBA will be offered in partnership with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and is designed for those already working in the healthcare industry.

“The business of healthcare is changing rapidly, and healthcare professionals are challenged to enhance patient outcomes, while decreasing costs,” says Arjang A. Assad, Katz's dean.

“The Katz-UPMC EMBA in Healthcare Program will prepare physicians, administrators, and managers to optimize the strengths of their organizations.

The EMBA's curriculum will cover a range of topics in both general management and healthcare. Classes include "Financial Accounting," "Global Supply Chain Management," and "Information Technology and Electronic Medical Records," among others. It will also include a year-long, six-credit practicum component, where students will be able to apply the skills they learn in the workplace.

The program will take 19 months to complete; classes will be held on Fridays and Saturdays.

Katz's EMBA Healthcare will launch in May 2017.
