AMBA Reports Increased Competition for MBA Applicants

The Association of MBAs has seen a rise in the number of MBA applications following a four-year decline

The Association of MBAs (AMBA) has found a five percent increase in global MBA applications for 2014-2015, after four years of decreasing application numbers.

Its 2016 Application and Enrolment Report found that while the number of MBA applications had increased, global enrolment figures had remained relatively static. For applicants this means increased competition for spots on MBA programs.

AMBA is one of the major business school accreditation organizations.

In 2011-2014, application numbers had been down 14 percent, so a five percent increase in application number represents a huge relative shift.

The AMBA study included data from 218 business schools on six continents. 92 percent of AMBA-accredited schools provided data for the report.
