The Program

Introduction of HKU MBA Programme

HKU Business School's international MBA programmes are designed by an award-winning faculty to provide students with a first-class education and real-world experience. We offer various MBA programmes, including Full-time MBA, Part-time MBA, and Part-time GBA (HK-SZ) MBA.

  1. Full-time MBA: an intensive one-year programme with three tracks. All students spend nine months in Hong Kong, with field trips to Mainland China. Then, depending on the track they choose, they get to spend four months in London or New York, or Hong Kong/Shanghai.

Highlights of Full-time MBA

·         The unique partnership with world-renowned business schools such as the London Business School and Columbia Business School provide our students with unmatched opportunities in terms of educational experience and networking.

·         Regional perspective in the heart of Asia with a strong China focus

·         China Immersion Programme allows students to receive an eye-opening opportunity to learn about the vast diversity of China’s economy and world’s leading technology.

·         The Programme adopts the case-based approach that enable students to become effective problem-solvers. These cases are written by our own professors and published by our renowned Asia Case Research Centre (www.acrc.hku.hk).

·         The Career Development & Training team works closely with students throughout their MBA journeys to provide career advice and guidance, enhance their professional and personal skills, and equip them with connections to relevant corporate and recruitment partners.

·         The Programme’s relatively small class size, along with the diversity of profiles among class members, allows for extensive interaction and collaboration.

  1. Part-time MBA: offered in both weekday and weekend modes. Students are expected to complete all courses within a minimum of two years (to a maximum of four years) in a 5-week modular structure, meaning you concentrate on one single course in a given 5 week period. Students can choose the study mode that best suits their work commitments. Students from both modes enjoy a certain degree of flexibility, for example, weekday mode students can choose three weekend core courses and weekend mode students can choose three weekday core courses, all subject to the availability and approval by the Programme Office. The weekday or weekend mode is only available for core courses as electives are offered from a common pool comprising courses in both modes.

Highlights of Part-time MBA

·         Flexibility: studying at your own pace, you can complete this MBA degree within 24-month whilst continuing your busy work schedule.

·         International Field Project: in the past few years, we have organised numerous international field trips to Asia, Europe, and the US. International Field Project is an elective that helps students understand business dynamics in different economies by visiting companies and institutions, and also speaking with CEOs and top management of the visited companies.

·         The Programme adopts the case-based approach that enable students to become effective problem-solvers. These cases are written by our own professors and published by our renowned Asia Case Research Centre (www.acrc.hku.hk).

·         Access to professional development workshops and industry leadership talks where we invite professionals to guide our students through workshops that focus on topics such as personal branding, communication, and industry knowledge enhancement. Leadership talks given by industry executives offer opportunities for students to engage in meaningful dialogues with business leaders, allowing them to gain in-depth understanding of how global business work.

  1. Part-time GBA (HK-SZ) MBA: designed for students to complete all the courses within a minimum of 2 years (to a maximum of 4 years) in a 4-day modular structure, meaning you just have to concentrate on a single course in a given 5-week period. The no-class weeks will allow students to focus and debrief their learnings from the lectures, meet with their cohorts for group assignments, and most importantly, prepare themselves for the upcoming class week. This study approach will ensure our students receive optimum learning while minimising travelling.

Highlights of Part-time MBA

·         Students will study at both Hong Kong and Shenzhen campuses.

·         Focus on the Greater Bay Area in China with exposures to Hong Kong business environment.

·         The Entrepreneurship & Innovation Centre – Yuan Valley: the centre spans an estimated 3000 square meters, providing HKU students, alumni, and affiliated partners with resource support and a space for innovation. It also establishes a platform for interactive communication and self-improvement for talents in the Greater Bay Area.

The University

As the oldest tertiary education institution in Hong Kong, HKU now has an alumni community of more than 270,000, providing leadership services in various industries such as retail, banking, technology, commerce, government, education, and ESG. The employment rates displayed under Supply Chain are not very high for these schools but I'm not sure if that's because in general not too many students go into this field or because of these particular unis. Any opinions?

Greetings, I've been looking into these programs and wondering if their financial aid options are really as open to foreigners as they claim on their websites. Is it really a fair ground for someone who's coming from abroad, or is there normally a bit of bias? Thank you your time! Louise
