The NUCB Business School offers two paths of study dependent on the background of the applicant at the time of enrollment. Applicants with over three years of professional experience enter onto the one-year, full-time MBA track. A two-year option for an MBA is also available for students who wish to undertake a double degree program or study abroad exchange with one of the School's overseas partner institutions. Many students who follow the two-year track continue to work in Japan while earning their MBA degree. For applicants with fewer than three years of work experience, the NUCB Business School offers a two-year track for an MSc with a different set of mandatory courses than the MBA track. 

The most internationalized program offered by the NUCB Business School, the students of our international programs represent over 40 different nationalities. Courses in English at the school have an average class size of about fifty students, including participation by Japanese program students. The result is a multicultural environment that encourages the exchange of ideas from diverse perspectives. Students learn from a collection of instructors with extensive professional business backgrounds. Benefiting from their academic instruction and real-world professional experience, students gain a competitive advantage that will guide their career development throughout their lives.

Study Abroad Opportunities

The NUCB Business School has established student exchange partnerships with 170+ leading business schools in 60 countries and is one of the newest member schools of the PIM Network, joining schools as prestigious as HEC Paris, Columbia Business School, NUS Business School, and dozens of others dedicated to open exchange of students and joint programs between top-tier institutions in every country.

Under the student exchange program, students are able to add a new dimension to their professional development. Tuition fees at partner schools are waived and students in excellent academic standing are eligible for additional scholarships to cover the cost of travel and living expenses. For executive level students, an intensive study abroad program at Harvard Business School, MIT Sloan School of Management and the IMD Business School is also offered. 

Nagoya Marunouchi Tower Campus, opened in June 2015, is just a fifteen-minute walk (one subway stop) from the central Nagoya Station.

Tradition and Innovation

Nagoya University of Commerce and Business was originally founded in the midst of a rapidly industrializing Japan in 1935 as a vocational railroad school. By 1953, following the post-war economic and population boom, the university was established and expanded into a rural area neighboring Nagoya. As globalization and technology coalesced in the later part of the 20th century, the Graduate School of Management was created. In 2015, the Nagoya Marunouchi Tower Campus stands as a vision of tradition and innovation. The first two floors of the campus are designed with a Gothic-inspired, medieval concept while the remaining twelve floors are equipped with ultra-modern learning facilities. 

Japan's Triple Crown

Founded based on the recognition of the value of experiences overseas, NUCBBS has dedicated itself to the internationalization of Japanese management education since its inception. One important milestone has been the achievement of accreditation by the world's three most established and influential organizations evaluating the quality of management education institutions: the Association for the Advancement of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the Association of MBAs (AMBA), and the European Foundation for Management Development Quality Improvement System (EQUIS). In 2021, NUCB Business School became the first and only school in Japan to attain triple accreditation or "Triple Crown" status, joining the ranks of only about 120 business schools in the world and expanding the recognition of the NUCBBS MBA degree's value wherever alumni careers may take them.

New Curriculum Design

The weekend-only format of NUCB Business School MBA makes it a prime choice for those who require flexibility, either for meeting professional responsibilities or exploring Japan's rich culture and society. Further, the MBA is available in two formats: an intensive one-year format, and the standard two-year format. 

The Master of Science in Management (MiM) is offered only in a two-year format, with each course held over four consecutive weekdays. However, both two-year programs may be completed in three semesters (a year and a half) by meeting certain requirements at the end of the second semester.

The NUCB Business School provides two enrollment options throughout the year, at the start of either the spring (April) or fall (September) semester. Once we have received your application with the required supporting documents, we will determine if you are eligible for an examination. Domestic applicants are required to attend the examination on campus while examinations for overseas applicants will be held online by Zoom.

Over 60% of the international students enrolled in the NUCB Business School receive a scholarship either from the university or from the Japanese government. The School offers students achievement-based tuition reduction scholarships throughout their enrollment. Up to 80% may be deducted based on GMAT or GRE scores for the first semester tuition, and up to 60% may be deducted based on academic achievement in the following semesters. In addition to tuition remission, students living in NUCB residences may also receive housing fee reduction scholarships of up JPY 40,000 per month. Scholarships from the Japanese government include the JASSO and MEXT Scholarship.

Nagoya is the perfect place to live for those who want to experience Japan. Clean, safe, and technologically cutting-edge, the cityscape still maintains its historic linkage dating back to the Tokugawa Era. It is the third-largest metropolitan region in Japan while being surrounded by historically significant cultural sites. Located within walking distance from the campus, the Chiyoda Residence is a fully furnished, single-occupancy international student residence. With the rest of the city at their doorstep, a short walk or subway ride is all that separates students from some of the best parts of the city: the peaceful Tsuruma Park, the bustling Osu Kannon shopping streets, and the lively nightlife area of Sakae.
