What are your career goals?

UCT is a great school - probably the best in South Africa. Do you want to end up working there?

One thing I'd keep in mind is that the average work experience at UCT is around 7 years - a bit above where you are right now.

dont do mba from south africe. i went their once and it is not a very safe place for non blacks.

I'd assume that's an absolute requirement, but check with them directly.

But since they generally recruit people with around 7 years of experience, it seems that 25-30ish would be the age range they're looking for.

That's a very broad generalization based on limited data. Many international students study in Cape Town each year, and find it fine. I'd recommend that if you are curious about studying there, do your own research based on facts (and not hearsay) and visit the place before you commit to living there for a year or more.

Good suggestion. You should spend few days before any long term commitment. I know that probably spending one year to do MBA does not make Cape Town very unsafe but i assumed that you would stay there post MBA as well and that is where you need to be very careful with your decision to moving to South Africa.

I am banker from India with 7 yrs of wrk experience.I would like to know abt the career services for international students after the MBA at UCT.
I wrote few mails to the admissions office and the career services dept, but no one replied.
I would be grateful if some one can give an insight about the MBA program at UCT GSB. Though its a good school, I would like to know about the situation of the grads post MBA and companies recruited their students in the recent past,

You should keep trying to contact them. It looks like you can even call their office, if they don't respond to emails that would be a good tactic:

Since they don't publish placement reports, it's hard to say what kind of opportunities there are for MBA grads. The Financial Times puts it in the middle of the list in terms of both salary increase and international mobility, so it's not the best but not the worst either. Looks like alumni work in a variety of fields, from finance to telecoms to utility companies.
