Hi,

I am going to complete my MBA course this year from Pakistan. I am a Canadian citizen (though I am originally Pakistani). Due to some personal reasons, I did my education from Pakistan. Since I'm about to have a Pakistani degree (MBA) soon, I wonder if I can get a good job (related to my degree) in Canada with it or will it be useless because they would prefer a Canadian degree over my Pakistani degree? Please note that I don't have a useless job, I want something that is related to my degree and a good salary.

If there is something additional (a short-term course or something) I should do to bring "more value" to my profile, let me know.

It won't be useless but, unless you graduated from a top school like LUMS or IBA which might have successful alumni in the organizations you are targetting, your MBA will not be seen as the equivalent of a North American MBA. I don't know what you consider to be a good salary, but there are jobs available for foreign MBAs in Canada. Salaries are generally lower in Canada than in other developed countries for MBAs.

To increase your value, focus on one business function in a shortage area (for example, in the Eligible Federal Skilled Worker Occupations) and obtain a professional qualification from a Canadian organization (for example, in accounting, finance, HR, purchasing etc).

Thank you for your answer. At least 6k$ per month - would be "good enough" for me, considering I have a Pakistani degree. Can you tell me how easy/hard would it be for me to get a job related to my field in Canada (that offers me a salary of about 6k$ per month) with my Pakistani degree?

How much do you think would be my salary then? Also, if I am having a salary that is a bit lower than the average salary, do you think the 2-3 years of Canadian experience will bring more value to my profile and get me to a good job (salary etc)?

I will use an analogy (however imperfect) that will help you answer your own question. Your situation is similar to a person from Nigeria/Haiti/Cambodia who has Pakistani citizenship (but not originally from Pakistan), and did their degree/MBA in Nigeria/Haiti/Cambodia. They now want to move to Pakistan to make use of their Pakistani citizenship. What kinds of jobs do you think those people will get when they arrive in Pakistan to look for work? What do you think they should do to make sure they succeed once they are in Pakistan? There's your answer.

 I will use an analogy (however imperfect) that will help you answer your own question.  Your situation is similar to a person from Nigeria/Haiti/Cambodia who has Pakistani citizenship (but not originally from Pakistan), and did their degree/MBA in Nigeria/Haiti/Cambodia.   They now want to move to Pakistan to make use of their Pakistani citizenship.  What kinds of jobs do you think those people will get when they arrive in Pakistan to look for work?  What do you think they should do to make sure they succeed once they are in Pakistan?  There's your answer.

I understand but there's a slight difference between Canada and Pakistan. Pakistan would accept any degree that is from the east or the west because most Pakistani degrees are not of high standards so a degree from (let's say) Russia or China would be seen better than a normal Pakistani degree.

Canada is also different in the sense that education qualifications are less important here than someplace like the US. Immigrants always seem to focus on getting as much qualifications as needed, when having a network, friends, contacts and experiencing the local work culture is FAR more important. The MBA qualification only helps immigrants in that they provide access to those intangibles (e.g. through internships, networking events, career services support, mock interviews, etc). The actual paper qualification you get after the MBA is really not that important here (with the exception of prestige industries like consulting/IB).

I did my MBA in the US (ranked in FT, US News, etc) but that hardly matters here. The only reason I got my current job is the work experience I had in the US was able to land me a job in an American multinational in Toronto. So the MBA helped (indirectly through the intangibles), but the paper qualification itself is not really that important.

It doesn't make much difference which country your MBA is from - did that MBA give you the intangibles I am talking about? If not, what can you do to remedy that? That is what you need to focus on once you move to Canada.
